CASE STUDY – ASK

Architecture
for the Society of Knowledge
RWD for the master course in architecture at Warsaw University of Technology
Context

Architectural design is constantly evolving with the advancements in technology, changes in social and cultural norms, and the growing focus on sustainability. ASK was created to provide architects with the knowledge and skills needed to address these challenges by emphasizing research-driven design, experimentation, and data-driven techniques, and to enable them to stay at the forefront of these changes and develop innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of society.

The site redesign aimed to increase the interest of foreign students in studying at WUT and to broaden ASK’s recognition in the academic environment.

Client: Architecture for the Society of Knowledge, self-initiated

Goals & Metrics

Goals in this project were divided into two categories. Business goals relate to the overall functioning of the cluster. UX goals represent expectations of particular manufacturers towards the developed solution.

Research

To define a target group, I utilized data I was fortunate to gather over a few years of working as a researcher at WUT’s Faculty of Architecture and as an ASK tutor. I took part in interviews with candidates and had the opportunity to inquire about their motivations, goals, and concerns.

Design system

I based the site’s visual system on ASK’s existing branding, incorporating its geometric lettering and bold colors. The site unfolds horizontally. The majority of the layouts are built upon a 12-column grid, and the element sizes adhere to an 8-point grid.

Content showcasing

I introduced a fresh content approach, aiming to enhance their course presentation, brand aesthetics, and architectural sense, while also infusing an emotional aspect into their content.

Exploring study program

To learn about program details, users can explore dedicated subpages for each subject, featuring topics and students’ works from previous editions.

Organizing data

The website presents extensive information for candidates, leading to lengthy pages. To enhance content navigation, I integrated user interface features such as accordions and sticky headers.
